Policies
Safeguarding & Child Protection
Everyone who comes through our doors should be safe here — especially children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Last updated: Draft policy — full policy to be ratified by church leadership before launch
Our commitment
Shiloh Tabernacle International is committed to providing a safe environment for every person who takes part in our services, ministries, Bible School and events.
Abuse, neglect, exploitation, bullying and harassment of any kind are never acceptable and will never be covered up.
Children's ministry
Children are signed in and out of children's ministry by a parent or guardian. Volunteers serving with children are screened and never left alone one to one with a child out of sight of another adult.
TODO (admin): confirm the exact screening process, background check provider and volunteer training requirements before this page is published.
Volunteer screening
Anyone applying to serve with children, youth or vulnerable adults completes an application, an interview, references and a background check appropriate to Rhode Island requirements.
Reporting a concern
If you have a concern about the welfare of a child or vulnerable adult, speak to a pastor immediately, or contact the church office at 401-437-7037 or shilohtabernacleint@gmail.com.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 first. We report suspected abuse to the appropriate state authorities as required by law.
Confidentiality
Concerns are handled discreetly and shared only with those who need to know in order to protect the person involved and to meet our legal obligations.
Review
This policy is reviewed annually by the leadership team. TODO (admin): record the ratification date and the named safeguarding lead here.
